Paging System Scenario Many nursing homes are using a paging system which is connected to a
fire alarm panel. Whenever a
call is placed, the message goes to the fire alarm panel first, then the
message is sent to a phone line by means of a modem. In addition, portable
call buttons, worn by the residents, are used to reach employees on duty. Problem Over the years, three major problems occurred while using this paging
system. Whenever an employee’s pager
received a message, a delay of 45 to 120 seconds would occur, since the
message had to first go through the fire alarm panel. Also, because of a
weak signal, some calls were lost, leaving residents waiting to be
attended to. Moreover, when a distress call was made, a buzzing sound
would be heard at the fire alarm panel until it was manually silenced. Solution Setting up Nordicom’s <Protocol Converter> to the existing fire
alarm panel. By doing so, calls will be received instantly and,
because of a stronger signal, no more calls will be lost. The
annoying buzzing sound will also be silenced more quickly. |
